man speedtest

For a fair result4 tips
  • Pause downloads, streaming and cloud backups on other devices.
  • Wi-Fi is often the bottleneck. Try once near the router, or on a cable.
  • Run it twice. The first run can be slower while the network warms up.
  • The test starts as --quick. Before a --full run on mobile data, remember it can use 500 MB or more on fast 5G.
MB/s or Mbps?divide by 8

Both measure the same speed. MB/s is megabytes per second, the unit your browser shows while downloading a file. Mbps is megabits per second, the unit internet plans are sold in. One byte is 8 bits, so a 100 Mbps plan downloads at about 12.5 MB/s at best.

What latency under load meansbufferbloat

Latency is the round trip to Cloudflare. A big jump while downloading or uploading is called bufferbloat: calls and games stutter whenever someone else is using the connection.

Are my results stored?not on any server

Not on any server. Unlike speed.cloudflare.com, this page doesn't upload results anywhere. Your last 10 results are kept in this browser only, so you can compare them; clear them any time. A share link carries the numbers inside the link itself.
